It's easy in these current challenging times to feel that the Earth, and all the life it supports including us, is on an increasingly downward spiral towards environmental and climatic disaster. With potentially devastating consequences for all life.
And it's also easy to feel that there is little we can do as individuals to change and improve this in a way that would actually make a difference. I have spent the last few years asking and pleading with Spirit - what can I do to bring healing and protection to the Earth? What can I do to make a difference, to do something positive instead of feeling worried, guilty, upset and powerless?
And then a friend recommended I read a book called 'Summoned by the Earth' by Cynthia Jurs, who has spent the last 35 years honouring an ancient Tibetan Buddhist tradition of burying blessed ceramic pots - Earth Treasure Vases - at locations around the world. Places where past and current atrocities and harm have been carried out against people, land and nature, leaving lingering, unhealed scars on individuals, communities and the natural world.
These small pots, created by the Tibetan monks, were taken around communities to be filled with whatever individuals felt they wanted to offer as healing for the Earth - a prayer, a leaf, a poem, a flower, song, thoughts, a special stone, a shell, a story - whatever each individual felt represented them and their connection to and love of the Earth. And once a pot was full of tokens of love, respect and healing from the local community it was buried in the ground to emanate out healing and protection to the Earth and local nature. And in doing this healing was also brought to the people.
Beautiful and moving!
The practice of the Earth Treasure Vases touched me deeply and I knew that it was a practice that I wished to bring to the land and people of Cornwall. But I felt strongly that this practice needed to be honouring of the local land and life and so I have created my own clay pots from locally sourced Cornish clay, added locally foraged native herbs that were revered by the Celts of Cornwall and etched channelled Reiki blessings of protection and healing into the base of each pot. I like simplicity and so decided to name them Earth Healing Pots.
The creation of each pot is a labour of love - undertaken with ceremony and respect and each pot is imbued with healing and protection for the Earth and the life it supports. They are powerful allies of the Earth in their own right! But they are now waiting to be filled with the heartfelt gifts of love, respect, compassion, healing and protection from YOU before being buried at various locations in Cornwall. To emanate out all the blessings into the local land where they can do the most good for all life and help to heal both Earth and human traumas and wounds, past or present.
